Jay
Cochrane, Prince of the Air, recreated the Great Farini's first public
high-wire walk across the Ganaraska River in Port Hope, Canada, on
August 21, 1999.
Jay came home to his native
Canada to showcase the unique talent that has placed him at the top of
his profession. It also serves as a springboard to Jay's goal of
skywalking over Niagra Falls.
In 1859,
William Leonard Hunt, or, as the world knew him, the Great Guillermo
Antonio Farini, gave his first high-wire performance, walking across the
Ganaraska River on a rope strung from the rafters
of the two buildings on either side of the river.
More than 10,000
people watched Jay's performance wihich was sponsored by Great North
Productions Inc. of Edmonton, who taped the event for a one-hour
documentary to be broadcast on History Television's popular series,
The Canadians: Biographies of a Nation.
